Alka Kumar and Arek Kazmierczak loved to explore the world through food, but what they learned was that the best food always comes from home – wherever that home might be. They started Sutter Buttes Olive Oil Company in 2009, near the Sacramento Valley volcanic formation created 300 million years ago. The area is loaded with fruit orchards, which amazingly affects the flavor of the olives growing nearby.
Alka and Arak source all the olives for their spreads and oils from Northern California, and many come from groves within the Sutter Buttes region. The spreads are made in small batches so that each jar has the same, jaw-dropping flavor, no matter where in the world it might wind up.
